Carolyn Stewart Named Assistant Vice President of Community Relations for FAU’s Broward Campuses
FORT LAUDERDALE , FL (February 28, 2007) – Florida Atlantic University has named Carolyn A.R. Stewart as assistant vice president of community relations for the Broward campuses. Stewart will design and lead University programs that build and strengthen FAU’s partnerships and community relationships in Broward and Miami-Dade counties.
“As assistant vice president of community relations, Carolyn will bring all of her experience – as well as her energy, deep enthusiasm and commitment – to serving the university and the South Florida community,” said Dr. Joyanne Stephens, FAU’s vice president for Broward campuses. Stewart received a bachelor’s and master’s degree from St. Thomas University and is currently completing a doctorate in adult education and human resource development. She has served Florida Atlantic University for nearly a decade as associate director of the Broward campuses’ Career Development Center. During that time, Stewart initiated unique networking programs, such as the Career Advisory Council, that connect FAU students with community and business professionals.
Stewart has 20 years of experience developing and leading career development programs, at Miami Dade College as well as at Florida Atlantic University. In 2006, she was awarded the Outstanding Career Practitioner Award from the National Career Development Association, the Silver Award in the Career Category from the National Association of Student Professional Administrators and the Presidential Leadership Award from FAU.
