FAU Presents Dan Millman, the ‘Peaceful Warrior’
BOCA RATON, FL (January 23, 2009) - Florida Atlantic University’s Peace Studies Program presents a lecture and book signing with Dan Millman, the “Peaceful Warrior,” on Wednesday, February 18 at 7 p.m. in the University Theatre on the FAU Boca Raton campus. Tickets for the lecture are $20 and can be purchased by calling 800-564-9539 or at www.fauevents.com. Seating is limited, advance purchase is recommended. Millman, a former world-champion gymnast, Stanford University coach and professor, martial arts instructor and author of Peaceful Heart, Warrior Spirit, spent half a lifetime exploring the heart of various wisdom traditions. He has dedicated his life to teaching practical ways to live with a peaceful heart and warrior spirit. Millman brings a light-hearted approach to the challenges of everyday life and teaches audiences to live a more meaningful and purposeful life.
The movie “Peaceful Warrior,” which is based on Millman’s life, will be presented on Sunday, February 15 at 7 p.m. at the Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park in the Count de Hoernle Amphitheater in Boca Raton. The film is free and is presented in partnership with the Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park.
The film and lecture are part of FAU’s Peace Studies outreach program. The program also includes several workshops. The January 31 workshop is entitled “Be at Peace in the Moment” and is based on Eknath Easwaran’s book Strength in the Storm: Creating Calm in Difficult Times. This workshop takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The second workshop, “Thinking in Freedom,” is based on Easwaran’s book Conquest of Mind. This workshop takes place on Saturday, March 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m, with a follow-up on Saturday, April 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The registration fee for each workshop is $10 and the follow-up workshops are free to initial participants. There also will be a passage meditation workshop, “Your Life is Your Message” on Saturday, May 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The registration fee is $25. All workshops take place in FAU’s Christine E. The Peaceful Mind/Peaceful World Series is presented by FAU’s Peace Studies Program in partnership with the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing’s Initiative for Intentional Health and the Schmidt Family Foundation.
