Health Guidance

March 16, 2020 - 1:40 p.m.

If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath), see your health care provider immediately. Call ahead to advise the doctor’s office of recent travel. If you have been diagnosed or have symptoms consistent with coronavirus, wear a facemask when you are in the same room with other people and when you visit your healthcare provider. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention expects that person-to-person spread of coronavirus will eventually occur more widely.

Students with health concerns should contact FAU Student Health Services (561-297-3512). Faculty, staff, and other members of the university community should contact their healthcare provider. Anyone with a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of coronavirus will be guided by the treating physician and the Florida Department of Health on steps for treatment.

If you are severely ill and cannot get to a doctor, call 911 or go to an emergency department at a local hospital. It is recommended that you call ahead to any healthcare provider to receive specific direction.

Questions and Requests for Assistance can be directed to FAU’s Office of Environmental Health and Safety:
