Community Creative Writing Workshops
The MFA Program at FAU is proud to offer Community Creative Writing Workshops each semester. Classes vary, but we typically offer: Fiction, Creative Nonfiction/Memoir, and Poetry. We are also in the process of developing a Youth Community Workshop. These classes are workshop based. This means that you will read and offer comments on each other's work. Classes are taught by senior level MFA graduate students. Instructors will provide comments on your work and lead class discussion so that you get the most out of your workshop experience.
No experience is required to attend! We encourage writers of all backgrounds and skill to apply, from the seasoned memoirist to the novice poet, you will benefit from becoming a part of a writerly community.
If you'd like to take a workshop, please email mfa@fau.edu or ekiley1@fau.edu to request a registration form and more inforrmation.
Community Workshops are eight weeks, non-credit classes which meet one night a week for two hours. The cost is $250, $180 for alumni and employees (or their immediate family). Repeat participants receive a $25 discount.
You can read a blog post here and here about the workshops. And if you'd like to see what a class would look like, check out a Fiction or Creative Nonfiction/Memoir syllabus. We look forward to reading your work!
