Dr. Laurie Patlin Suttenberg earned a doctorate in clinical social work (DSW) from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. She holds an MSW from Washington University in St. Louis and an MSW from the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a BA in Psychology and Spanish from Washington University in St. Louis. She is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in Florida and New Jersey and is a diplomate in clinical social work (DCSW). She completed a two year post graduate training program in structural family therapy and person of the therapist with Harry Aponte, ACSW, in Philadelphia, and she has had extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy at the Ellis Institute in New York City.
Dr. Suttenberg has been in private practice for over 20 years. She is a FL and NJ clinical social work supervisor, and she has worked in a multitude of mental health settings, including family service agencies, inpatient psychiatric hospitals and a partial hospitalization program. She has designed and presented workshops in corporate and community settings, performed critical incident stress debriefings (CISD) and consulted with a major hospital system in the design and implementation of a women’s behavioral health program.
Prior to coming to FAU, Dr. Suttenberg taught advanced practice courses as a part time lecturer at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
