Patrick McLaughlin received an M.S. degree in Forensic Science from The John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 2019. Prior to that he received a B.S. degree in Forensic Science (also from John Jay) in 2014. Patrick had the honor to serve New York City as a police and detective for the NYPD from 1997-2017. During that period of time he served as a patrol officer, a narcotics enforcement officer, and as a crime scene technician. In his 15 years as a crime scene technician, he processed or assisted in processing nearly 8000 criminal events ranging from simple car break-ins to murder. He has training in numerous forensic disciplines and has spent years amassing extensive knowledge on the subject.
Patrick has spent many years training other members of the Evidence Collection Team as a field training officer and, upon entry into graduate school, has been teaching students of both undergraduate and graduate level on numerous forensic science topics.
