‘Social Media and Crime Analysis’: MSCCJ Student Successfully Defends Thesis

Kevin Lopez, MSCCJ student, has successfully defended his master’s thesis, “Social media and crime analysis: The intersection of online posting and law enforcement investigations.” His committee was chaired by Lisa Dario, PhD, associate professor, with assistant professors Gabriel Cesar, Ph.D., and Diana Sun, Ph.D. serving as committee members.

Kevin collected his own data to examine how crime analysts across the United States use social media platforms for data collection and investigative purposes. Kevin’s presentation was very well received by all in attendance, which included his mother, girlfriend, fellow students, and other faculty.
