CJ Faculty Receive Commendation Letter from FAU PD
Wednesday, Jun 09, 2021Spanning three weeks in Spring 2021, the FAU Police Department offered its inaugural Citizen’s Criminal Justice Academy (CCJA) to members of the FAU community. The FAU Police Department partnered with Drs. Calli Cain , Vaughn Crichlow , and Cassandra Atkin-Plunk to survey participants and evaluate the CCJA.
“I cannot adequately put into words the degree of investment, time, thought, commitment, collaboration, communication, and genuine care our Academy Ambassadors put into making this program a success,” wrote Deputy Chief Robin Griffin-Kitzerow, in an official commendation letter written on behalf of the FAU PD and given to the Criminal Justice faculty participants.
The purpose of the CCJA is to provide information regarding how the criminal justice system operates and how decisions are made. Participants learned about technology and law enforcement, safety on- and off-campus, and were able to see demonstrations, meet with FAU PD Officers, and ask questions. The FAU PD plans to offer future CCJA academies, both in-person and virtually.
