2021 SURF Award Recipient
Wednesday, Jun 09, 2021Emily Konecke, undergraduate Criminal Justice student, and her faculty mentor, Dr. Adam Dobrin , received a $4,000 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship award to fund their research project entitled, “Exploratory Evaluation of the Accuracy of the Opinions of Graduating Criminal Justice Students of Issues of Controversial Criminal Justice Topics”.
When Criminal Justice majors enter the field as soon-to-be crime control experts, it is important that they be well-versed in descriptive data related to controversial CJ issues – particularly issues that dominate recent and current headlines. This fellowship project will gather data snapshots from key criminal justice, public health, and media sources that cover controversial, justice-related topics, and measure our students’ preparedness to accurately estimate critical data points.
