FAU Virtual Communities

Virtual Communities + a First-Year Success Course = a terrific first year

From Jupiter to Boca, we are bringing campus life to you! Our Virtual Communities are an important way YOU can get involved, meet new people, and find your place at FAU – even while we are mostly online. All first-year students – that is more than 2,600 of you -- will be part of a Virtual Community this Fall.

A Virtual Community is:

  • An online space to meet and get to know other students who share your academic interests or similar life experiences. You’ll be with 100 – 150 other students in your community. Big enough to meet lots of people, but small enough to not feel lost.
  • Eight weeks of online events and activities to get plugged into campus life
  • An introduction to your campus and the Jupiter and Boca Raton communities

All first-year students will also be enrolled in a first-year success course or the Wilkes Honors College Forum. These courses introduce you to academic life at FAU and give you the tools to find success in your first semester. Together, we think you’ll be feeling at home in no time – even if you can’t come to campus yet.

Start Following Us

You’ll receive an invitation to your Community space on Microsoft Teams, but you can start following us now on Instagram @fauvirtualcommunities. We’ll host several events from our page.

It Starts with Hello!

Your community will be led by an upper-division student who will get introductions going with your community Look Book. The best friend you haven’t yet met may be on one of these pages! You’ll be invited to design a slide with a photo of yourself sharing a bit about yourself – your major, what you like to do in your free time, and why you chose FAU.
