Meet the Team
Director: Dr. Teresa Wilcox
Teresa received her undergraduate degree from Bethel University and her doctorate at the University of Arizona. She also served as the Texas A&M University ombudsperson through her role as assistant provost in the Office of Graduate & Professional Studies. Teresa now serves as the chairperson for the Department of Psychology at Florida Atlantic University. “Infants learn more in the first two years than they will at any other time in their lives. The purpose of the studies conducted in the Infant Cognition Lab is to figure out how this happens. All together, these studies will help us better understand the changing mind of the infant.”
Graduate Research Assistant: Jacqueline Hammack, M.A.
Jacqueline is currently in her sixth year of her graduate program at FAU, working towards a PhD in Experimental Psychology. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Early Care and Education and her Master's in Experimental Psychology from Florida Atlantic University. Jacqueline has worked with both typically and atypically developing children as a part of both her degree and in her career. She previously worked with Els for Autism in Jupiter, FL as a behavior technician in the Early Steps program, which serves children with autism aged 2 to 5. Her research interests include infants' perceptions of mechanical and social entities, infant gesture production and perception, and the neural correlates of infant gesture comprehension.
Graduate Research Assistant: Lindsey Riera-Gomez
Lindsey is currently in her fourth year in the Experimental Psychology Program at Florida Atlantic University. She received her Bachelor's of Science in Psychology and Sociology at Florida State University and her Master's in Experimental Psychology from Florida Atlantic University. Lindsey has previous experience working as an undergraduate research assistant studying implicit biases and parent-infant attachment. She has also worked as a clinical technician and intake coordinator at various behavioral facilities in the South Florida area. Lindsey's interests include the behavioral and neural dynamics of parent-infant relationships and identifying risk factors within that relationship that may threaten healthy development.
