The Department of Psychology is currently recruiting applications for the 2025 Fall matriculation class. We are looking for bright, motivated students who have an inquisitive mind and a passion for psychological research. Work alongside world-renowned faculty who are utilizing novel techniques to perform cutting-edge research into human cognition, development, behavior, and social dynamics. Graduate Admission Requirements

Graduate training begins during the Fall semester and students are considered Full-time. Applicants must have received, or be candidates for, a baccalaureate degree from an approved college or university. All graduate applicants must meet each of the following requirements:

  • The department plans to make GRE scores optional for the 2025 admission cycle. If you have taken or plan to take the GRE and would like for your scores to be considered as part of your application, please submit your scores with your application materials through the GradCas system. 
  • Grade point average (GPA) at 3.0 (B average) or higher during the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate coursework.

*It is important to note that the average GPA for accepted applicants in recent years is approximately 3.6.

  • Three letters of recommendation from persons who are familiar with the applicant’s potential for graduate study in psychology.

Important Dates

  • The application deadline for the  Experimental Psychology Ph.D. program   is  December 1st each year.
  • The application deadline for the  M.A. program in Psychology   is April 1st each year.

Please be advised that the Department of Psychology does not offer a degree in Clinical Psychology.

FAU is proud to offer quality education at a reasonable rate. Our tuition and fees compare to other states of Florida schools. Doctoral students who abide by student employment requirements may be granted graduate assistantships and full or partial tuition waivers. Additionally, beginning in Fall 2020, FAU will pay for 75% of the annual Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) premium cost. More information on Student Health Insurance Plans for Graduate students can be found on the  Graduate College Website here.

Many of our faculty are also associated with the FAU Brain Institute. Therefore, Experimental Psychology Ph.D. applicants interested in neuroscience-related training may also enter via the FAU Brain Institute sponsored Neurosocience Graduate Program.
