Connecting with SAS to Receive Academic Support
This process will be followed for students requesting: Academic Accommodations, Housing Accommodations, Emotional Support Animal Accommodation, Meal Plan Accommodations.
Step 1:
Complete the Application for Academic Accommodations (linked above). This provides students with an opportunity to describe their experiences related to their disability, barriers faced, previous accommodations utilized, and accommodations they believe they will need at Florida Atlantic. The student will upload documentation of their disability within the application. For more information regarding documentation, see Documentation Guidelines.
Step 2:
If the documentation is sufficient, the student will be assigned to an SAS Consultant who will contact them to schedule their initial meeting. If the documentation is not sufficient, SAS will reach out via FAU email to let the student know additional documentation is needed.
Step 3:
During the initial meeting the SAS Consultant and student will engage in an interactive and collaborative process to explore barriers, functional limitations, previous educational experiences, and past accommodations. Current academic accommodations will be determined through this process.
**Please note, this institution’s process and criteria for determining accommodations may not be the same as practiced by others, included standardized/licensure exams.
