Enhancing Health Research

Florida Atlantic University recently received an All of Us Researcher Academy Institutional Champion award which provides funds for teams of researchers to receive training and technical assistance to use the data set of the National Institutes of Health.

“Access to this database will provide invaluable opportunities for our researchers to delve into a diverse and comprehensive data set, enabling groundbreaking health research and innovations in individualized healthcare," said Krause-Parello, Ph.D., administrative lead on the award, and associate vice president for Research.

The All of Us Research Program is a historic effort to collect and study data from at least one million people living in the United States. The goal of All of Us is to speed up health research discoveries, enabling new kinds of individualized health care. The program aims to reflect the diversity of the U.S. and include participants from communities that have been underrepresented in health research in the past. For more information, click here.

FAU was one of only six teams chosen nationally to participate in this year’s cohort of the Researcher Academy.

Within Florida Atlantic, four teams were selected to receive training and technical assistance through the All of Us Researcher Academy. Teams are comprised of the following: Beth Pratt, Ph.D., assistant professor, leading Joy Sessa, Ph.D., and Macie Intoppa; David Newman, Ph.D., professor, leading Debarshi Datta, Ph.D., and Subhosit Ray, Ph.D.; Rita Gengo, Ph.D., assistant professor, leading Judyta Kociolek, all of the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, and Yosun Yoon, Ph.D., Charles E. Charles E. Schmidt College of Science; and Gregg Fields, Ph.D., interim vice president for Research and executive director of the Institute for Human Health and Disease Intervention, leading Hongjie Wang, Ph.D., and Ella Protz, both of the College of Science.

“This award not only brings prestigious recognition to our institution but also provides crucial support and resources to our dedicated teams, empowering them to contribute significantly to the goals of the All of Us Research Program," Fields said.
