Advancement and Sponsored Programs Routing

To support faculty on The Race to Excellence, FAU's Strategic Plan, the Office of Institutional Advancement's (ADV) goal is to provide exceptional service for three reasons: to coordinate grant submissions with the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), to provide useful information about the funder, and to ensure that priority-driven relationships are managed with the utmost professionalism at FAU.

Is the foundation/ sponsor on the Top 100 National or the Top 50 FAU Partners lists?

National and FAU Partner Foundations require cultivation, coordination and consistent messaging.

Most proposals will route through OSP
State, Federal, and Corporate sponsors MUST route through OSP to apply for funding

You MUST ontact your FAUF Development Officer PRIOR to contacting. All general requests for gifts, if cleared, must go through Advancement
The requester MUST work through their DO to strategize PRIOR to approaching any foundation for support

Is this for an open grant solicitation or a request for proposal (RFP) mechanism?

NOTIFY your FAUF Development Officer of your intent to apply 7-10 days prior to submitting or contacting the sponsoring foundation
Contact your DO at least 7-10 days prior to applying to the sponsoring foundation to ensure coordinated submission through FAU. This is in addition to FAU's five (5) day policy.

Are we (FAU) required to apply as a 501(c)3 (as FAUF)?

Proposal will route through OSP
FAU is still considered tax-exempt under section 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code

Does the foundation/ sponsor require that applicants need to be invited to submit ( Invitation Only Process )?

Does ADV have an established relationship or can they secure an invitation in 7 calendar days?

If no relationship exists (and no possibility of an invitation), the proposal stops.

Proposal routes through ORD Limited Process then be forwarded to OSP and ADV for final submission
ORD will compile and advertise the opportunity via the limited process. FAUF in partnership with FAU would provide the appropriate reviewers and decision on nominees. Communication through ORD back to the internal applicants
