Nirla Gomes is a Brazilian registered nurse and nursing professor with a doctoral degree in nursing from the Federal University of Ceará (UFC). She is an affiliate postdoctoral fellow at the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing. She has teaching experience in both undergraduate (physical examination and pediatric care areas) and graduate (master and doctoral advisor) courses at UFC. Her main research area includes nursing technology in health promotion with an emphasis on standardized nursing terminologies. At Florida Atlantic University, she is working with professor Howard K. Butcher on the integration between nursing theories and nursing taxonomies to care promotion.
