Sumit Dass, Ph.D. , is a postdoctoral fellow working in the lab of Aditya Nayak,Ph.D., assistant professor at FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. Dass completed his doctorate degree in optical sensing from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhubaneswar in 2019. For his doctoral research, he worked on designing and fabricating microfiber/tapered fiber-based structures, which can detect critical properties such as curvature, temperature, acoustic signal, nano displacement, and refractive index. He is currently working on the development of in-situ imaging systems for underwater applications. Apart from this, his research interests include the design, simulation, and fabrication of optical fiber-based systems for chemical/physical/biological sensing. Additionally, Dass has three years of teaching experience.
