veteran in uniform holding a dog

Veteran Canine Rescue Mission

Are you a military veteran over the age of 18?

Are you interested in participating in a hands-on dog adoption and training program?

Do you have access to the internet?

PROJECT INFORMATION

We seek to understand the biological and psychosocial impact of dog adoption and training on Veterans' health and wellbeing.

You will be assigned randomly to the hands-on dog training or the waitlist group which will be chosen for you like flipping a coin.

You will be required to attend and participate in 8 weekly hands on dog training sessions plus 1 month follow up or participate in an 12 week waitlist group.

If you are randomized to the waitlist group, you will receive the 8 weekly sessions of a hands on dog training program at a later time.

Assessments will be collected at 3 different times for both groups taking up to 45-60 minutes each time.

Veterans will receive:
  • waived dog adoption fee
  • professional hands-on dog training sessions (8 weekly one-hour sessions)
  • $15 gift card at each data collection time point as a token of our appreciation
