Boca Campus Facilities Upgraded | Spring 2023

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) upgraded a total of 14 instructional computer labs, general purpose open labs, and departmental/college labs on the FAU Boca Raton campus at the end of the Spring 2023 semester. The University saved over $90,000 by combining the purchase of equipment through OIT. Six facilities were upgraded with 290 new Dell 7400 computers, running Windows 11:

• GS-207 SAM Lab – 36 new PCs
• GS-211 Math Learning Center – 22 new PCs
• GS-215 Writing Lab – 12 new PCs
• SE-150 Math Emporium – 135 new PCs
• IS-113 Instructional Lab – 39 new PCs
• SO-200 Instructional Lab – 46 new PCs

OIT repurposed a total of 83 older Dell computers to upgrade the equipment in 2 open labs, 5 residence hall open labs, and the Athletic Academic Lab. More specifically:

• BU-201 Open Lab – 12 Dell 7460 AIO computers (Windows 10)
• LY-201 Open Lab – 9 Dell 5400 AIO computers (Windows 11), 2 new Collaboration Stations
• PH-120 Housing Lab - 7 Dell 5250 computers (Windows 10)
• SA-112B Housing Lab - 4 Dell 5250 computers (Windows 10)
• IV-126: Housing Lab - 7 Dell 5250 computers (Windows 10)
• HP-118 Housing Lab - 10 Dell 5250 computers (Windows 10)
• IR-111: Housing Lab - 10 Dell 5250 computers (Windows 10)
• SF-148: Athletic Academic Lab - 24 Dell 5250 AIO computers (Windows 10)

OIT also donated 120 Dell 3030 computers from the Math Emporium Lab to preparatory schools in Jamaica.
