Alumna Spotlight: Wilna Justilien ‘22 Co-chair, Nursing Alumni Network
Alumna Wilna Justilien graduated magna cum laude from the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing with her Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) degree in 2022. Every day, she is grateful she chose to study at Florida Atlantic University.
“Even though I’m working in the field now, I can still hear my professors’ voices in my head,” shared Justilien. “I’m thankful for my teachers who were hard on me, and I’m immensely grateful for it. I appreciate my professors now even more because they trained us so well. I’m so proud to be a Florida Atlantic graduate.”
Today, Justilien works as an RN at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston. She deeply appreciates having a career that allows her to make an impact in her patients’ care and the value that comes from providing someone with comfort and a sense of safety.
“In nursing, I can make a difference every day to my patients and their families,” stated Justilien. “I also enjoy their responses and how they look forward to seeing me because of the care I provided. Every day is different, and I get to meet so many people. I know I’m changing their lives, and they are changing mine, too.”
In addition to caring for a cadre of patients, she also helps train students who are placed under her supervision. She regularly works with students who are new employees while they are still in school.
“I enjoy serving as a mentor to them and lending my skills to give them extra help,” expressed Justilien.
In her spare time, Justilien gives back to her alma mater. This fall, Justilien became the co-chair of the college’s Nursing Alumni Network. She aims to grow some of the seminars, educational workshops and social events for the college.
“Looking ahead, I hope to create more preceptorship opportunities for our students,” said Justilien. “My professors gave so much to me that I hope to continue to share my knowledge with today’s students.”
