Brain Health Research the Focus of Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce event

The Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center (MWC) of the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing hosted the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce’s South Healthcare Advisory Board (S.H.A.N.) and more than 20 community organizations on Wednesday, June 19 for a speakers’ forum. The presentation topic focused on caring science, Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD), MWC services and supports, the brain, memory and wellness and collaborative research studies including Fit2Drive, In-Vehicle Sensors to Detect Cognitive Change in Older Adults and Family Caregiver of an older adult with a memory-related disorder. The purpose of the Fit2Drive study is to predict the capacity to drive for those with cognitive concerns using easily administered cognitive tests among participants including MWC clients and older drivers from the local community. Dr. Jo Ann M. Bamdas, research assistant and clinical placement lead, Dr. Ruth Tappen, Eminent Scholar and Professor, and Dr. Kelley Jackson, Senior Research Nursing Professional and MWC staff were among the event speakers.
