Funding Priorities

Make a Difference and ensure high quality nursing care in South Florida

The Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing is a rapidly rising star in South Florida’s healthcare future. With 88% of nursing alumni living and working in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties, it’s fair to say we’re invested, committed and ready to lead.

You will help ensure that our communities’ healthcare and medical centers are staffed with the best, brightest and most knowledgeable nurses with a gifts to support our dean, faculty, students and programs.

Promote Excellence from the Top: The Dean’s Excellence Fund

The State of Florida currently provides only 25.5% of its state universities’ budgetary needs. The Dean’s Excellence Fund is necessary to seed junior faculty research, host visiting scholars, conduct community outreach and purchase simulation lab supplies. A gift to the Dean’s Excellence Fund will allow the dean to make strategic decisions and capitalize on opportunities that are otherwise unfunded.  They are utterly invaluable to the dean’s successful management of enduring budget challenges.

Curtail the Nursing Shortage in South Florida: It’s all about Faculty

Most people are not aware that the national nursing shortage is due to the scarcity of PhD-prepared faculty that are needed to TEACH nursing students - not to a lack of student interest or institutions wanting to prepare them. Nationally, the competition for professors of nursing is fierce. In fact, the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing loses faculty every year to colleges and universities that offer higher salaries and more incentives. You will be our hero and significantly ease the challenges at FAU with a gift to establish a professorship endowment.

Professorship endowments provide an income stream to the College in perpetuity and elevate its ability to recruit high demand PhD professors. As named professorships, such funds enhance the credibility of both the College and the recipient academic’s credibility and leverage research funding from public and private grantors. Your named professorship will position our current dean and every future dean to attract the country’s best academics and researchers in nursing to FAU’s Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing.

Safeguard healthcare in South Florida: It takes a village (of nurses)

The College’s bachelor’s to PhD and bachelor’s to Practitioner programs provide our communities with scholars and researchers, nurse leaders and managers, and advanced practice nurse clinicians. Ideally, the College will provide each graduate student with the necessary financial resources so that they can focus on their studies without the added stress of full-time employment. Your gift to support our graduate students will help to ensure broad based, quality nursing in our communities.
