FAU CON Land Acknowledgement Statement

Land acknowlegement

Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing recognizes that we are on taken land and acknowledges the indigenous people currently living on the lands, their ancestors, future generations, culture, harvest, language, poetry, and living songs. The purpose of this land acknowledgement is to honor the indigenous history and to state our commitment to protect these places and people.

FAU consists of campuses in Harbor Branch, Jupiter, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Davie, and Dania Beach residing on Jeaga, Ais, Tequesta, Taino, and Seminole lands. Generations of indigenous people and tribes have resided on these lands and nearby sacred sites for over 10,000 years. The land and waterways continue to carry their stories including those for survival and identity. We acknowledge these tribes' rich histories and our country's role in their removal from this land.

The FAU College of Nursing believes that a caring environment is one in which all aspects of the person are respected, nurtured and celebrated. We are committed to uplifting the voices of indigenous people and learning from their philosophies promoting harmony, unity and healing.
