Publication and Presentation Authorship
Authorship should be discussed in advance of beginning a research project with all persons involved. We strongly advise students and their mentors use the COM mentor-mentee agreement which will assist in the discussion of expectations for both the student and mentor. Students should NOT expect authorship on publications and presentations in return for their participation in research. Please refer to the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) recommendations on authorship criteria.
Please also re-review the CITI Responsible Conduct for Research (RCR) training course (completed first semester M1), which covers many important research topics including collaborative research, mentoring, peer review, plagiarism, research misconduct and authorship.
Presentation Authorship
