As the Primary Care Physician at FAU Medicine Primary Care, Dr. Berkowitz's passion for science and healing has only grown with time. Imagine a young boy, eyes wide with wonder for science. Fast forward, and you'll find that boy transformed into a compassionate family doctor. This encapsulates the heartwarming journey of Dr. Berkowitz.
What drives Dr. Berkowitz
Dr. Berkowitz's day is filled with meeting different people and understanding their health concerns. Every patient is a new puzzle, a new story. What he loves most? The challenge of figuring out how best to help them. His guiding principle is simple: "Listen to the patient, they'll tell you what’s wrong. All you need to do is hear them out". This is the heart of patient-focused care.
Guiding Future Doctors
More than just treating patients, Dr. Berkowitz is also Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at FAU Schmidt College of Medicine. He plays a key role in shaping future doctors. He believes in passing on his knowledge, sharing his experiences, and helping FAU's medical students find their path. Those mentoring moments, when he sees young minds light up with understanding, are what he treasures dearly.
His Accomplishments
Since joining FAU Medicine Primary Care in 2019, the practice experienced a remarkable increase in patients. Today, the practice is serving a thriving community of 4,884 patients! His accolades also include:
- Cornell University alumnus and proud Kappa Sigma Fraternity member.
- Esteemed author contributions to medical textbooks.
- Honored with the Resident Teaching Award at South Nassau Communities Hospital in NY.
- A graduate of the Physician Leadership Academy of Palm Beach County Medical Society.
- Featured as a 'Top Doctor' in local magazines from 2020-2022.
- Consistent attendance at the Harvard Review of Internal Medicine to remain on the cutting edge of his field.
Life Beyond the Clinic
When he's not attending to patients or inspiring students, Dr. Berkowitz cherishes moments with his family. He enjoys taking walks, swimming, tuning into his favorite music, and watching comedies and romantic movies. These activities rejuvenate him, prepping him for another day dedicated to his patients' well-being.
