M.D. Program Teaching Hospitals
During their third and fourth years, our students will rotate through hospitals in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. More than 1,000 community-based doctors are affiliate members of our college and work alongside University-based faculty to provide an enriching educational experience.
A key component of the curriculum is early exposure to patients and the actual practice of medicine.
Bethesda Memorial Hospital
A community, not-for-profit hospital offering a full array of healthcare services, including a maternity, a Level III neonatal ICU, pediatrics and pediatric ICU, a 28-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility and comprehensive cardiovascular services. It has 400 beds with 19,600 admissions, 112,500 outpatient visits, and 58,000 ER visits per year.
Boca Raton Regional Hospital
Boca Raton Regional Hospital offers a full range of medical services. It is located one mile from the Schmidt College of Medicine at FAU. It has 400 beds, 19,700 admissions, 180,000 outpatient visits, and 40,000 ER visits per year.
Cleveland Clinic Florida
Cleveland Clinic Florida is the Florida campus of the Cleveland Clinic, a not-for-profit, multi-specialty, fully integrated medical center. It provides residency training as well as advanced fellowship work in specialized disciplines. It has 160 beds with 12,000 admissions, 94,500 outpatient visits, and 29,500 ER visits per year.
Delray Medical Center
Delray Medical Center offers a wide range of specialized services including emergency care, cardiovascular care, a comprehensive stroke center and psychiatric services. It is a Level I trauma center for adults and children. It has 536 beds with 18,900 admissions, 79,900 outpatient visits, and 42,800 ER visits per year.
Joe Dimaggio Children's Hospital
Joe Dimaggio Children's Hospital is the leading children’s hospital in Broward and Palm Beach counties, the only one performing cardiac catheterization and open-heart surgery and one of the few hospitals in the nation performing minimally invasive, endoscopic surgery for cranial abnormalities. Its new hospital features all private rooms, medical/surgical and oncology units, ambulatory services, and a conference center. It has 147 beds with 6,100 admissions, 35,600 outpatient visits, and 55,300 ER visits per year.
Memorial Regional Hospital
Memorial Regional Hospital is the flagship facility of Memorial Healthcare System, one of the largest in Florida. Its programs include cardiac and vascular, cancer and neuroscience with a comprehensive stroke center. The hospital is one of only a few Level I trauma centers in the state. It also has a rehabilitation center and bariatric surgery. It has 560 beds, 28,200 admissions, 179,000 outpatient visits, and 89,000 ER visits each year
West Boca Medical Center
West Boca Medical Center is an acute care medical/surgical facility known for its pediatric and surgical specialty programs, including robotic surgery. It provides maternity care and a Level III neonatal ICU. It has 195 beds, 10,500 admissions, 67,500 outpatient visits,and 32,400 ER visits per year.
