Vascular Surgery Clinical Experience
We are committed to providing hands-on experience to our residents, and operative responsibilities are awarded progressively as ability develops. Residents work side by side with faculty members to provide excellent care for patients and to ensure a varied and thorough educational experience. Fellows are integral members of our Vascular Surgery care team and will work closely with general surgery residents (PGY2-4) rotating on the Vascular Surgery inpatient hospital service participating in preoperative evaluation, operative planning and execution, as well as post-operative care and follow-up. Our trainees are exposed to a varied, high-volume case mix that encompasses the most up to date surgical, endovascular, and medical treatment for all forms of arterial, venous, and lymphatic diseases. They will be exposed to treatment of all types of vascular disease in the hospital setting as well as the outpatient clinic and outpatient office-based surgery center. The case mix is broad and encompasses the full spectrum of vascular surgery from open and endovascular treatment of complex aortic aneurysms, to treatment of superficial venous disease in the office and wound care. In addition, there are unique opportunities to become proficient in endovascular robotics, TCAR, limb salvage techniques, intervention for Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism, operative management of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Pelvic Congestions Syndrome, and embolization techniques.
