Overall Program Growth
The program has continued to grow year after year and is now at capacity with 7 categorical residents per year, up to 10 preliminary residents in the PGY I and II years and up to 7 residents in the value-added year of research/scholarship.
Research and Scholarship
The program's research and scholarship productivity has grown year after year: last year the residents and faculty published over 20 papers and presented over 40 posters and/or oral presentations at regional and national scientific meetings.
Currently close to 20 additional works of scholarship are being submitted and the residents and faculty are involved in over 40 additional projects.
Our residents completed their value-added year at prestigious institutions like UCLA, Harvard, Baylor/Texas Heart, the Cleveland Clinic Florida, and worked with the African College of Surgeons.
Boards & Fellowships
Our first class of graduating chief residents achieved an ABS QE board pass rate of 100%, setting the bar for the years to follow. They also enjoyed a fellowship match rate of 100% and matched in Trauma/Critical Care, Vascular Surgery and MIS/Bariatrics at such prestigious institutions as the Johns Hopkins Hospital, the Cleveland Clinic Ohio, The University of Florida Jacksonville, the University of Maryland and the University of Miami. We are looking forward to following their careers and success.
