Faculty Assembly Promotion and Tenure Committee

The College Promotion and Tenure Committee is structured to consist exclusively of full-time faculty members holding the rank of Associate Professor or full Professor. The committee is composed of four representatives from the Biomedical Science Department and four representatives from the Clinical Science Departments, with the aim of achieving equal representation. In special cases concerning Clinical Departments, ad hoc members may be added. The committee's primary responsibilities involve evaluating faculty portfolios and recommendations from Departmental Promotion and Tenure Committees, ensuring adherence to university guidelines, and maintaining strict confidentiality in their deliberations. Additionally, the committee plays a role in reviewing the qualifications of new faculty offered tenure as a condition of employment. Voting within the committee is conducted based on faculty rank and tenure status.

Furthermore, the committee appoints a representative to the University Committee, contributes to the development of promotion and tenure policies, and collaborates with departmental committees to provide recommendations to the Dean and University. The College Promotion and Tenure Committee's deliberations on promotion and tenure cases remain undocumented, but discussions on other issues are recorded and shared. This committee serves as a critical body in the promotion and tenure process, ensuring rigorous evaluation and adherence to established criteria.
