Biography
Nabil Abazaid, M.D., M.S. serves as Simulation Director and Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine. He oversees the simulation medicine curriculum and is one of the core faculty of the emergency medicine residency. He works clinically as an emergency medicine physician at Bethesda Hospital East and Delray Medical Center.
Dr. Abazaid's journey into medicine began in West Palm Beach, Florida, inspired by his mother's work as a nurse in addition to the health disparities he observed in his community. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Florida, where he volunteered with pediatric palliative care patients, deepening his understanding of the impact of disease on patients and their families. He then pursued his Master of Science degree at the University of South Florida. Afterward, he received his medical degree at the University of Virginia, where his passion for emergency medicine was ignited.
Dr. Abazaid completed his emergency medicine residency at Emory University, where he served as a chief resident. His passion for medical education and its role in improving patient outcomes led him to pursue a Simulation Medicine Fellowship at NYU Langone's Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine. Following his training, he would remain as clinical faculty at NYU where he served as the Simulation Director of Bellevue Medical Center.
His work in simulation medicine allows him to train the next generation of healthcare providers, ensuring they are well-prepared to deliver high-quality care. This commitment to education and patient engagement is a cornerstone of his practice here at the FAU Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine.
