Documents/Services Request

In order to simplify various immigration-related services and requests, students can submit a request e-form throught the iStartFAU Portal. Please preuse the list of available request e-forms below and submit the neccessary within the sepecified timeline, if applicable. 

Request Processing Timeline

Below are the guidelines for the International Services document processing. Students must submit the supporting documentation within the given timeline:

OPT extensions/I-20 extension/change of status

30 business days prior to the expiration date. 

Document requests for current students 

10 business days from the time all documents are received.

New I-20 and DS-2019 for students          

business days from the time all documents are received.

DS-2019 for interns and scholars            

10 business days from the time all documents are received.

New Students (F/J Visa)

1. To submit and upload a scanned copy of your recent passport biographical information page. Passport Information

2. To request an new I-20/DS-2019 (for first time at FAU or Change of Level students).

Immigration Check-in

Current Students (F/J Visa)

1. To request a travel signature on your I-20/DS-2019 (needed for re-entering to the U.S.).

3. To request an I-20 program extension. F-1 students only.

5. To apply for change of status to F-1 (for current FAU students).

6. To request an update on your existing I-20/active SEVIS record.

7. To request for Reduced Course Load (RCL) authorization (acceptable reasons limited). Reduced Course Load (RCL) Request

9. To request to withdraw from classes and be temporary absence outside of the U.S. for less than five months. AUTHORIZED EARLY WITHDRAWAL (AEW)

Immigration Document Upload

1. To submit and upload a scanned copy of your recent passport biographical information page. Passport Information

3. To submit and upload your most recent I-94 record.

*Every time you enter the U.S., you receive a new I-94 and you should submit this form.

5. To submit and upload any notices received from USCIS.

*This applies to students who have filed a petition with USCIS, such as for OPT, Change of Status, Reinstatement.

Employment Authorization (F-1)

1. To apply for Curricular Practical Training (only available to students still enrolled for courses).

2. To apply for Optional Practical Training - post-completion (C)(3)(B)/pre-completion (C)(3)(A).

Regain F-1 Status - Students in Terminated Status

1. To regain F1 status following an authorization for early withdrawal (only for students who were approved for AEW).  Regain/Reactivate F-1 Status Request

2. To apply for reinstatement (USCIS) - regain F-1 status following SEVIS termination.

Eligibility Specific Requests (F-1)

1. To request form I-20 recommending economic hardship. Student needs to discuss with DSO prior to form submission.   Economic Hardship Request

Proof of non-F-1 status (to report you are not or no longer an F-1)

1. To submit and upload the confirmation that you are not an F-1/need student visa to study at FAU. Proof of Other Immigrant Status Form
