FALL Move-out and Winter break
Move-out for Fall 2024 is December 12th at noon. Move-out only applies to Fall residents who are not returning for the Spring semester.
Residence Halls and Apartments will not close for the Winter Break. Residents who have a Spring Housing contract may come and go during the Winter Break as they please.
Moving out and not returning to campus for the Spring semester:
Residents who will not be returning to on-campus Housing for the Spring semester must be completely moved out by 12:00 p.m. on December 12th. Residents must complete moving out by this time to avoid an improper checkout fee of $150 and lock changing fees.
Below is the move-out process:
- Remove all items and clean your room.
- Full Service Move-Out is available from December 2nd until December 11th from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m each day. Visit the front desk within that time frame and a staff member will inspect your space with you. Please note that you must be fully moved out and ready to turn your keys in at this time.
- You may also opt to complete an Express Move-Out. By doing this you waive the right to appeal any housing damage and lock change fees. To complete an Express Move-Out please visit the front desk at any time. Please note that you must be fully moved out and ready to turn your keys in at this time.
- On December 12th only the Express Move-Out option will be available.
- Forward your mail: see mailroom for more info.
- Carts and bins are limited, plan accordingly.
Leaving campus for Winter Break and returning for the Spring semester:
Residents who will be returning for the Spring semester but will not be staying on-campus during the Winter Break may leave campus at any time and can return at any time. Residents will not lose access to their building during Winter Break. While on Winter Break, please remember to use the address you are currently staying at for packages and food deliveries as your residence hall address might be set as your default.
We do ask residents to complete the following tasks before they depart:
- Clean and defrost your personal refrigerators (does not apply to suites that come with refrigerators).
- Remove all excess food and trash from the living space.
- Make sure your room and/or suite is clean.
- Set thermostat to 78 degrees or mid-setting. Make sure it is set to auto fan speed.
- Make sure all lights are turned off.
- Unplug anything that is used by an outlet: microwaves, blow dryers, personal refrigerators, hair appliances, TVs, gaming systems, computers, etc.
- Make sure all water faucets are off.
- Do not leave laundry in the washers or dryers.
- Lower blinds down in the common areas and bedrooms.
- All students should remove all personal items from the bathroom. Any items not removed will be bagged by Housing staff to clean should a room vacancy occur. Housing Facilities and Housekeeping staff will be entering suites over Winter Break to prepare vacant spaces for new Spring residents.
