Deborah L. Harris
Biography
Dr. Deborah Harris, Associate Professor, offers the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in Florida Atlantic University’s College of Education experience and knowledge in the area of reading and language arts. She teaches undergraduate and graduate literacy courses and curriculum courses. She serves as Program Area Coordinator for reading and supervises student interns. Dr. Harris joined the University in 1996 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2001.
Dr. Harris presently serves on the Faculty Senate for the 2013-2014 school year. She also serves on the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) Faculty liaison since 2011. In addition, Dr. Harris has held a variety of workshops at Palm Beach County Schools on the topics of classroom libraries, content reading and writing strategies, reading comprehension and literacy circles. Dr. Harris shows a genuine concern for her students’ academic success and provides her students with guidance in developing and implementing reading strategies.
