Introduction
Boca Raton Campus
The Buildings and Grounds Department maintains a vehicle and small engine maintenance shop. This shop provides full maintenance on all Grounds and assorted Buildings and Grounds equipment, such as mowers, tractors, lifts, heavy equipment and power tools. Additionally, this shop provides limited service to university vehicles.
The following are Policies and Procedures related to Vehicle Preventive Maintenance and Fueling of Vehicle.

Golf Cart and Utility Vehicle Services
Physical Plant facilitates or supports the following:
(valid for all the Florida Atlantic Uninversity Campuses)
- Registration of new golf carts/utility vehicles.
- Maintenance and repair activities on FAU-owned golf carts/utility vehicles.
- Annual inspections on FAU-owned golf-carts/utility vehicles.
- Short-term impoundment of golf carts with suspended use.
- Disposition of FAU-owned golf carts/utility vehicles.

Registration:
This is a two-step process that is initiated through Environmental Health and Safety. Please refer to https://www.fau.edu/ehs/golfcarts/index.php for more information. There are costs to register your golf cart/utility vehicle, and work is billable based on labor and materials.
Maintenance and Repair:
FAU departments and units must submit a Work Order request for maintenance and repair services. A departmental TAG# must be provided for this work. Work is billable based on labor and materials.

Annual Inspections
Golf carts and utility vehicles must be inspected annually. FAU departments and units must submit a Work Order request for inspection services. A departmental TAG# must be provided for this work. Work is billable based on labor and materials.

Short-term Impoundment
Violations of University Policy 4.1.6. may result in the confiscation and impoundment of the golf cart or utility vehicle at the department’s expense.
Environmental Health and Safety will inform the department if their golf cart or utility vehicle has been impounded. Contact Work Control at 561-297-2240 for next steps. Be ready to provide a departmental TAG# for impoundment expenses incurred.
Should your golf cart or utility vehicle be in need of repair or maintenance to bring up to safety and other policy-related standards or requirements, it will not be released until the work is completed. Work is billable based on labor and materials.
If your golf cart or utility vehicle has impounded for more than 60 days, contact EH&S.

Contact Property Management or EH&S for disposition of golf carts and utility vehicles.
