Wearable Accessibility Aid for Diver Rendezvous (WAADR)
Overview
The Wearable Accessibility Aid for Diver Rendezvous (WAADR) will be designed to bring new levels of safety and communication for divers, particularly those who are young, old, disabled, or impaired. Visually, divers will be able to choose between 'sigils', visible on a screen, which they can communicate to another diver. In terms of diver rendezvous, two divers will be able to locate each other through the use of pings.
Community Benefit
With the Wearable Accessibility Aid for Diver Rendezvous (WAADR), communicating underwater will become safer and more efficient. Individuals who are impaired, disabled, or may have issues picking up on the current solution for underwater communication will be given the opportunity to dive in a safe way and communicate underwater.
