Smart Camera for Wildlife Monitoring

Project 21

Overview

The project introduces a smart camera system for wildlife monitoring at Skukuza Research Station, featuring a dual detection system with a low-power sensor and OpenCV on Raspberry Pi 0 for efficient wildlife footage capture, and DTN protocol for resilient data transmission.

Community Benefit

This solution primarily benefits conservation researchers and ecologists by providing a more efficient and less intrusive means of data collection, enabling deeper insights with reduced effort and costs, aiding in biodiversity preservation, and informing wildlife protection and habitat conservation policies.
