Basketball Halftime Show Robot

Overview

This is a robot that is capable of seeing a basketball hoop, calculating the necessary motor torque to launch a basketball and consistently make the shot. The robot does so utilizing a fiduciary machine vision system to "see" the distance from the backboard of the basket, and angling the shot based off this vision in order to torque the motor arm to the necessary magnitude.

 

Community Benefit

The purpose of this robot is to function as a publicity stunt. Its entire existence is for that of marketing. The concept also could have valid applications in national defense purposes for calculating trajectories of projectiles.
