Fire Reconnaissance Extinguishing Device “F.R.E.D.”
Overview
Unlike other current alternatives, F.R.E.D. does not require a water hose connection, thus increasing its portability. Moreover, F.R.E.D. is able to navigate with an effective operating range of 100 feet. Equipped with a 6x6 pneumatic tire drivetrain, this firefighting robot is capable of maneuvering through rugged terrains and inclines of up to 30 degrees, as well as providing reconnaissance via live imaging and gas readings back to the user for climate and situation evaluation. Additionally, F.R.E.D. is equipped with a high RPM flywheel ball launcher capable of launching multiple fire extinguishing balls in succession.
Community Benefit
Our low-cost, remote-controlled solution possesses both extinguishing and reconnaissance features. Integrated with a live-feedback camera, CO2 sensor, and its ability to be controlled from up to 1.5 miles away, F.R.E.D. is designed to provide valuable insight into the conditions near the wildfire, as well as allowing them to combat them without the need of a water-hose connection.
