The V.A.C. (Visual Assistance Cane)

 

Abstract
The Therapeutic Back Brace is a portable device designed to instantaneously detect and alleviate the pain produced by muscle spasms. The back brace specifically targets the lower back region, due to its high injury susceptibility. EMG sensors are embedded into the design to detect involuntary muscle contractions. Once detection occurs, the back brace is activated, and pressure is applied onto the affected region. The system is a simulation of the treatment provided by physical therapists for muscle spasms. Community Benefit: The Therapeutic Back Brace will provide pain relief to patients who suffer from muscle spasms and significantly reduce the frequency of physical therapy visits.
