RTAK: Integrating Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) with a LoRa mesh radios to enable off-the-grid data sharing

Project 12

Overview

Our project aims to improve the ability for teams to communicate in situations where no internet or cellular connection is available. Our goal is accomplished by utilizing LoRa radios to build a mesh network that can span multiple kilometers and integrating the Reticulum Network Stack into ATAK to provide an interface that is able to facilitate the team coordination while having a low overhead on the relatively low bandwidth LoRa connections.

Community Benefit

We believe this project will greatly benefit communities in areas with no or poor internet or cellular coverage by enabling them to undertake coordinate team operations, such as a search and rescue, while utilizing military-class software to streamline their efforts.
