Robins AFB CAC Scanner

Project 27

Overview

The project aims to improve the current Common Access Card (CAC) scanning tool used at Robins AFB by adding key features like file merging, session history browsing, and network capabilities. The tool will have an intuitive GUI for ease of use and include functionalities like EAL (Entry Authorization Letter) file loading, DODID logging, and secure session data storage. Integration with networked storage using SharePoint or a shared folder will be included to enhance functionality and security .

Community Benefit

In an environment where secure access to classified areas is crucial, the Robins AFB CAC Scanner project enhances both security and operational efficiency. This tool ensures precise logging of personnel access, merging attendance records, and securely storing data, thus reducing human error and improving the reliability of access control systems. By integrating modern technologies like networked storage and a user-friendly GUI, this project will simplify the management of Entry Authorization Letters (EAL) and access logs. The project contributes to creating a more secure and streamlined process for Robins Air Force Base, allowing personnel to focus on critical tasks while ensuring that access to sensitive areas is closely monitored and controlled. This tool not only benefits the immediate base community but also sets a precedent for improving access security protocols in other high-security environments.
