Multi-Capable AR Program
Overview
The United States Air Force is looking for ways to reduce the cost and manpower that is required to accomplish their normal day-to-day tasks. The Department of Defense has decided that one of the best methods to do this is to utilize modern AR technologies to create a program that can train Air Force personnel how to complete tasks outside of their normal specialization to reduce the overall man footprint on base. An example of one of these tasks would be a jet pilot that wants to learn how to load missiles onto a jet. Our group is utilizing Unity along with the Magic Leap augmented reality platform to bring the DoD's vision to life. Our project will feature an intuitive user interface along with multiple tutorials to complete tasks outside of a normal airmen's specialization. Once a tutorial is selected, the user will be presented with step-by-step instructions on how to complete said task.
Community Benefit
Our project will reduce the overall personnel footprint on an Air Force base required to do a specific task, which in turn reduces the number of resources being used. Our project will benefit Air Force bases across the US.
