Temp-mometer

Abstract

During this pandemic where everyone must make a conscious effort to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Temp-mometer provides a solution for businesses to control facility access based on an individual’s temperature.  Temp-mometer is a combination of three hardware sub-systems and one software sub-system. The system ensures only appropriate individuals within an acceptable temperature range are allowed into a building through the combination of a card reader, contactless thermometer and lock. An additional subsystem transfers the person’s information and temperature from the thermometer to an online database to keep track of who entered and who was denied access. Our project approach focused on the specific completion of each sub-system’s functionality to ensure that each system would run smoothly identifying multiple individuals’ temperatures safely and quickly. The Temp-mometer will not only help to slow the spread of infectious diseases, but keep those who are feeling unwell to be accountable and at home until they are healthy again.
