Join the 2024 Engineering Technology Summer Camp focused on Traffic Engineering and Intelligent Transportation Systems at Florida Atlantic University’s College of Engineering and Computer Science. This summer camp will occur June 3 - 7, 2024, from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm at our Boca Raton Campus.

Monday

  • Introduction to traffic engineering
  • Introductory tutorial for traffic simulation and traffic signal timing software

Tuesday

  • Introduction to traffic control and management for uninterrupted flow and interrupted facilities
  • Tutorial for signal timing optimization and traffic control in simulation
  • Working session on a group project

Wednesday 

  • Traffic data collection: fixed sources
  • On-campus field visit to identify fixed-source traffic monitoring systems
  • Tutorial for RITIS detector database
  • Collect RITIS detector data and analyze

Thursday

  • Traffic data collection: mobile sources
  • On-campus field demonstration of GPS and OBD data from vehicles
  • Collect field data using one of the mobile sources

Friday

  • Each student group will present his/her proposed solution to an ongoing traffic problem
