About Fab Lab
The FAU College of Engineering and Computer Science Fab Lab was formed to help students and the community bring their ideas to life. It contains 6 computer systems capable of creating complex 3d designs and virtual reality projects. It offers both fused deposition 3d printers as well as low force stereolithography printers as additive manufacturing offerings.
The facility houses a large format laser cutter in addition to a high precision, four axis milling machine capable of machining metals, but also precise enough to cut printed circuit board. PCB assemblies have the ability to be automated with the Manncorp pick and place system. Electronic repair and testing can be accomplished on the four electronics stations.
The lab includes a computerized sewing/quilting machine for wearables as well as a vinyl printer/cutter and heat press for displays and promotional items.
Multiple small desktop material working machines, along with, manual and powered hand tools round out the lab to assist in fabrication and assembly of the projects on our (6) 8’ open workbenches.
