UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS
The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) currently offers Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees with three distinct tracks:
These tracks are designed for the careers of future in the biomedical field. Graduates of FAU’s BME department will be able to work in major robotics industries, biomedical device industries, and research and development (R&D) firms. All three tracks will focus on 1) fundamental knowledge, 2) exposure to state-of-the-art instrumentation and technology, 3) laboratory research, and 4) hands-on experiential learning. The tracks also pave the way for students to successfully pursue more advanced degrees such as Masters in Biomedical Engineering or Masters in Artificial intelligence. All tracks are offered on the main FAU campus in Boca Raton.
Innovation Leadership Honors Program
The College of Engineering and Computer Science has established the Innovation Leadership Honors Program (ILHP) for outstanding engineering and computer science undergraduate students. Students will be invited to join the program after they have completed their Pre-Professional Engineering Program and have met the ILHP eligibility requirements.
Joint BS/MS Degree Program
There are two attractive options that allow the students to pursue an accelerated Masters degree in one additional year as opposed to the conventional Masters degree that requires two additional years.
The first option is a 4 + 1 BS Biomedical Engineering/MS Biomedical Engineering: Qualified students also have the opportunity to enter the Joint BS/MS degree or 4+1 program. With an approximate duration of five years (four years at undergraduate level and one year at graduate level) , this combined program provides an attractive way for students to continue their graduate work. Students may count 9-credits of approved undergraduate course work toward both their B.S. and M.S. degrees.
The second option is a 4 + 1 BS Biomedical Engineering/MS Artificial Intelligence: Qualified students also have the opportunity to enter the Joint BS/MS degree or 4+1 program. With an approximate duration of five years (four years at undergraduate level and one year at graduate level) , this combined program allows its graduates to pursue opportunities for future jobs in the biomedical field, in the computer science f with applications to medical field, or in the healthcare industry. Students may count 9-credits of approved undergraduate course work toward both their B.S. and M.S. degrees.
