FAU Professor Mike Brady Selected to Receive Senior Scholar Award

Florida Atlantic University Professor Michael Brady, Ph.D., chair of the department of Exceptional Student Education at the College of Education, was selected to receive the Senior Scholar Award by the Eastern Educational Research Association (EERA). The award recognizes a scholar for outstanding theoretical or applied research that contributes to the professional body of knowledge about education; and for demonstrating excellence in teaching, advising, or mentoring.

Brady, has been active in developing teacher education programs for students with moderate to severe disabilities, and has worked with school districts, and state and local agencies to improve services for students with severe disabilities. He conducts research in Teacher Education, Special Education and Teaching Methods. His professional interests focus on translating and adapting research findings into practice, streamlining professional development for teachers, developing instructional and prompting systems for students, increasing social interactions among people with and without disabilities, and promoting special education reforms. One of his current research projects is 'Curriculum-Based VAM'.

Brady, Kelly Kearney, Angelica Downey, Jacqueline Wood, and Tracy Meiners will participate in a panel presentation titled “ College Students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities: An Emerging Research Agenda” at the 2020 EERA conference; where Brady will also be honored as the 2020 Senior Scholar. The EERA is an organization for educational professionals interested in conducting and disseminating research that improves education for all in both formal and non-formal settings.
