Appreciative Education in Action Webinar
Utilizing the Appreciative Advising Framework in Implementing “Case Management” within Academic Advising
Featuring:
Joe Murray, Associate Dean, University Advising Services, Florida Atlantic University
Shifts within higher education institutions have transitioned academic advising from a culture of walk-in based course scheduling to case management. Within this new system, students are assigned a personal academic adviser who reaches out and begins to build relationships with the student prior to arriving on campus, during orientation programming, and throughout their first two years of the student’s experience. Addressing logistics and operational expectations while still maintaining the appreciative mindset is crucial to setting academic advisors up for success in building strong, positive relationships with students. Join us for this webinar to learn how advising administrators can apply the Appreciative Mindset when creating “case management” assignments and the logistical consideration of identifying and serving target populations.
