Enjoying Fireworks with Your Child: Tips for a Dazzling Time


fireworks and individuals with asd1. Prepare your child early for the festivities.  This can be done by watching YouTube videos of fireworks, using Social Stories or visiting the location where you will be spending the day.

2. Consider finding a spot away from the crowds to watch he fireworks.  This may help your child feel less overwhelmed.

3. Make it fun!  Bring activities and toys that your child is interested in, this will give everyone something to do during down time.

4. If your child is sensitive to noise, consider bringing a pair of noise cancelling headphones, ear plugs or a device with earphones they can use to listen to music.

5. Be positive and stay calm.
