Florida Atlantic University students, alumni and faculty can get a professional headshot to use on places such as LinkedIn and Handshake.

The Iris Air Photobooth is in the Student Support Services (SU) Building in room 220, inside the Career Center.

The Self-Service Iris Booth:

• Uses high-quality studio lighting and photography equipment.
  
  
• Allows users to approve or retake photos and displays posing tips.
  
  
• Allows users to crop photos, touch up blemishes, whiten teeth, or apply filters.
  
  
• Instantly delivers digital photos via email.
  
  

To get a professional headshot, the process is simple:

1. Make an appointment in Handshake. Appointments take around 15 minutes.
2. Professional dress is strongly recommended for your headshot.
3. A digital copy of your headshot will arrive within 24 hours to your FAU email address.
4. Walk-Ins are welcome from Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Preparation

To capture a great headshot in a photo booth or for various professional purposes such as Handshake and LinkedIn profiles, student organization portraits, or professional website photos, it is crucial to follow some essential guidelines. The key is to present yourself in a professional and presentable manner, much like you would for a job interview, career fair, or your workplace, be it a job, internship, or work-study program.

When it comes to attire, it is highly recommended to opt for business professional or business casual clothing. However, it's important to consider the specific position you are seeking, as dress codes can vary between industries. For instance, the advertising industry might have different expectations compared to the business industry.

• Solid colors are best and mid-range to darker/deeper shades are encouraged.
  
  
• Avoid large amounts of white and other light colors because they may draw attention away from your face.
  
  
• Solid black should also be avoided as the detail does not capture well in photos (light and dark colors are both fine if you wear a jacket or sweater).
  
  
• Avoid wearing distracting patterns or accessories.
  
  
• Business casual or business professional is strongly encouraged.
